A few months ago, I was standing in my backyard at a neighborhood cookout when an old friend asked me a question I wasn't expecting.
"Are you doing alright?"
At first, I laughed it off.
But the truth was, I hadn't been feeling like myself for quite some time.
For months, my nights had become increasingly interrupted. I'd find myself awake more often than I used to be, and the lack of uninterrupted sleep was starting to catch up with me.
The hardest part wasn't the nighttime interruptions themselves. It was how I felt the next day.
I had less energy than I used to. I felt more tired during the afternoons. Sometimes I'd lose focus during conversations or feel drained before the day was even over.
I figured it was just part of getting older.
At the cookout, I thought nobody had noticed.
Apparently, they had.
My friend had known me for years. We'd spent countless weekends together with our families. He knew what I was like when I was rested, energized, and enjoying myself.
That evening, he noticed something was different.
Later, while everyone else was talking around the grill, he pulled me aside and asked how I'd been sleeping lately.
I remember looking at him and saying, "Not great."
He nodded.
Then he told me something interesting.
He said that for years he had simply accepted certain changes as a normal part of aging. He never questioned them. He never looked deeper. He just assumed there was nothing he could do.
Eventually, he decided to learn more about the factors that can affect sleep quality, nighttime comfort, and overall wellbeing as men get older.
Then he came across a simple 15-second morning routine that challenged everything he thought he knew. According to him, many men focus on the wrong things entirely. He pointed me toward a short video that explained it in simple terms. What really got my attention was that he wasn't trying to sell me anything. He simply told me to watch the presentation and decide for myself. When I got home that night, I did exactly that. The more I learned and understood, I started doing the same ritual every morning..
At first it felt nothing but after few weeks I realized I have slept through the night and now I don't constantly keep looking for the nearest bathroom.
